Agreed. I watched a program on PBS about this monster; he'd killed dozens of people at that point, and they have video of him purposely evading their traps. He surfaces at one point, takes one look at the cage they built to catch him, and submerges again...

It even kills a hippo at one point  (hippos are extremely dangerous, and crocodiles don't normally go near them).

A fine example of 200 million years of evolution.

EDIT: Now that I actually watched, that is part of the program I saw.

That thing was huge
twice as big as a normal one
that sounds like it could be painful
specially if you tried to run

God, that thing is a monster.

I think even the Borg would be afraid of it.

I love the Wikipedia entry.

"Since he is too big and heavy to catch smaller prey like small mammals and fish, he catches larger, heavier animals like wildebeest, humans and zebra."
"You ain't gonna get off down the trail a mile or two, and go missing your wife or something, like our last cook done, are you?"
"My wife is in hell, where I sent her. She could make good biscuits, but her behavior was terrible."

Thankfully, it was never on my list of "places to visit" anyways. :P

I don't get this. The article says Gustave has killed as many as 300 people. Why has nobody killed this thing?

Apparently, some have tried; he's got bullet holes and marks all over him... Tough bugger.

I would think there would be no shortage of rich Americans with 50 cal sniper rifles who would love to fly over and blow his brains out for fun.

Maybe they should err on the side of caution and use an RPG.
