Earthquake in LA

Post by Sionnach Glic »

LOS ANGELES-A strong earthquake shook Southern California on Tuesday, and the jolt was felt from Los Angeles to San Diego, and slightly in Las Vegas.

Preliminary information from the U.S. Geological Survey estimated the quake at magnitude 5.8, centered 29 miles east-southeast of downtown Los Angeles near Chino Hills in San Bernardino County.

Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said there were not immediate reports of damage or injury in Los Angeles.

The quake struck at 11:42 a.m. PDT. Buildings swayed in downtown Los Angeles for several seconds.

That's like a hiccup for LA residents.

I woke up during a 7.1 in '91, and just went back to sleep. To be fair, though, trailers have shocks, so it might've been a lot worse for someone in a house.

What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Just had word from a friend in LA, who was actually driving on the Ventura Freeway when the quake hit. As an example of how jaded LA residents are to earthquakes, his comment was to the effect that he had heard about the quake later on.

Funny thing about this is I heard about it cause WoW warned they might have lost some customer service time due to the earthquake but servers were working fine.
How many Minbari does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
None. They always surrender right before they finish the job and never tell you why.

I learned about it while channel surfing. There was an earthquake on Judge Judy as I was changing the channel.
No trees were killed in transmission of this message. However, some electrons were mildly inconvenienced.

So the next one will break LA off into the Pacific and we can turn it into a maximum security prison guarded by the United States Federal Police Force, right?
