Didn't think this warranted a new thread, but I've been having problems with the 'keep me logged in' feature.
Every time I leave and then come back to take a look at the forums it requires me to log in, despite having checked the 'keep me logged in' button on the login screen. It does this even if I've just left the site for a couple of minutes.
Any one else getting that, or is it just me?

I used to get that constantly, but now it seems to be sorted.
Maybe the problem's migrating westward?

I've had no such problem (but have seen it on another phpBB board)

It's worth checking your cookie settings. If you've blocked them from our site then you will have such problems.

How do I do that?

Depends what browser you are using. If you haven't turn it off then it's not likely to be the issue.
If you are using Firefox you you need to go to Edit / Preferences. Then select the Privacy tab. In the centre of the dialog theres a section on cookies. Click the exceptions button and enter our site address
www.ditl.org and then click the Allow button.
If you're using Internet explorer then you have my sympathies.

Yeah, I'm using IE.
I'll see if I can find the cookie settings elsewhere.

Then it will be somewhere is the maze of options available on Tools / Options. You could try setting the security level lower for our site. Quite how you go about that is another matter.

Damn, that thing is confusing...
I've listed DITL on something called 'trusted sites', so maybe that'll stop the problem.

That's why I said you have my sympathies. You could always switch to to Firefox, it's free and a lot faster than IE. Hope it solves you problem.

OK, I've received three traces so far. One of them seems to show an issue at the local end of the link or at least on the comcast network. The other two seem to indicate an issue with the cogent network. Cogent is the upstream network from our web host, so I've asked them to look into the issue. I'll feedback when I get an answer.
Anyone else having an issue please pm me with a trace (see this thread for how to perform the trace).
Thanks
Ian

I use Comcast ISP, and I haven't had these problems.

Yeah, but I do and do, I'm just on the other side of the country. No doubt they have regional problems due to being jerks.

Yes, that's quite possible. ISP's have a large number of routers. These are the basic building blocks that make up the Internet. They, as their name suggests route traffic to where it should go. If there is a broken or mis-configured router wthin the ISP then only people who have to travel via that router will be affected. Given you are in different locations it will be most unlikely that you will travel via the same route to get to our server. Thus one person can be affected while others are not.

This is the sort of thing that happens, but it's a crap shoot which errors happens in which frames. It looks kind of like the load is getting interrupted midway through.
Hi Jordanis,
Can I ask you to send me the HTML code for one of the frames that fails to display correctly (one of the Service Temporarily Unavailable frame). To do this you need to right click in the failed frame. A pop-up menu will appear. On this select 'This Frame' and the 'View frame source'. Please copy the contents of the window that appears and PM me with it.
Thanks
Ian
