I think they do it case-by-case more than anything. The Jedi Knight religion was obviously put down more for a joke than for any real beliefs (with the exception of a handful of guys), so they regard it as not counting.

I don't know what it says about me as a person, but I just can't accept this as anything other than pathetic. Come on....you are basing your spiritual beliefs around something you saw in a movie, which likely occured to the creater while he was doing some heavy thinking on the toilet. I know I'm supposed to be more open and accepting, but come the fuck on already.

*shrug* I don't see how it's any less silly then Scientology or any other religion. The only difference is that time has legitimized them.

This I don't even come close to understanding. How are they reincarnated from a fictional race that we don't see depicted until some later point in the future?
