He definitly became number one in my book.
When I was watching the first movie, I kept wishing Megatron would tear him apart and then Optimus (the movie's real hero) could take over and save the world... Minus one whiny Emo-bitch wannabe...

Seconded, and the second one was even worse, he screams like a little girl... Hahahaha

I'd actually forgotten about him. I really don't know why they had to make every human character in those films utterly insuferable.

I didn't really have a problem with the character persay so much as the way he was used. I didn't go to the Transformers movie to watch an awkward teen get his first car and hit on the jock's concubine. I went for the Transformers. Now if said concubine wants to wear short shorts and a halter top and rub all over said Transformers I'm cool with that. Sam was neither a Transformer nor did he have a big rack therefore I wasn't watching that movie for him. Everyone second on him was a second without Transformers or big titted chicks, and that was the annoying part.

I... found Sam to be quite tolerable, actually. He was a POV character for me. And while some of the humans were annoying-Senator Galloway, Leo Spitz, Maggie Madsen, the car dealer and the hakcer-I thought Banachek, Sam, Mikaela, Lennox, Epps and Secretary of Defense John Keller to be quite tolerable and in some cases, pretty damned cool.
Mileage varies, of course.

Agreed.
A friend of mine suggested (about fifteen years ago) that an Aliens vs Predator movie would rock if it had no humans in it. I said, "Yeah, two and a half hours of Aliens squealing and Predators grunting and roaring in between fight scenes. How engaging."
With no humans,
Transformers would've been a disaster, both creatively and financially.

I never said
all human characters in the movie annoyed me, only "twit-wicky" and his moronic family.
Both movies, and especially the second one, could have been better without them.
All other characters, I can live with.
I even found the soldiers quite fun to watch, and of course Megan Fox's character, while totally un-necessary to the story, was nice eye-candy.

Ah yes, the soldiers. Whose only lines involve "Run, run!" and "Shoot it!".
Then Megan Fox, who everyone agrees is just there to look great.
I'm saying without some "normal" POV, the movies would suck. Sam isn't a tough guy, or a hero; he reacts the same way 90% of people would in the situation, except that he eventually stands up and does his part. Most people would run, and keep running until they thought they were safe.

In the 2007 movie, Lennox and Epps had some characterization, and having them and the others do even some damage was a refreshing change. And yeah, Sam was my POV character. I mean, be honest. Who wouldn't freak out at what happened-that took place over the span of only 3-4 days, mind you.

No one's suggesting removing human characters altogether. Merely having a POV character who isn't a completey annoyance.

Yeah, I liked some of the interaction between Sam and the Transformers, and even some of it between Mikaela and him. (for some reason I don't see the extreme thought that she was like super hot, she really isn't, at least not to me. And don't get me wrong, I find some girls hot, just not her.) I sure hope that in Transformers 3 (not sure what it'll be on, but I'm sure I heard from one of the characters on an interview that it had been planned) that Sam isn't as whinny, as thats what really annoyed me, he always sounded like he was whining about one thing or another. Besides that I liked him as a character, but instead of thinking oh cool, interaction, I thought, do I really have to listen to him whine for another ten minutes.

How is Sam... whiny? because he's screaming 'Oh, shit!' while some alien robot hellbeast is chasing him down? Because he gets caught in the middle of an urban war zone and, despite really not wanting to do it, still tries to pass off the Allspark and even defies Megatron? Because he wants a normal life and, despite that, still helps out, gets the Matrix and revives Prime?
He is a normal guy-hell, a teenager in the 2007 movie!-caught up in otherworldly events. Epps was close to breaking in the village when Scorponok attacked. "Unknown I-man, if you seen this shit!" I don't fault Sam one bit for any of his reactions. I'm fairly sure I'd react similarly, to be honest.

I don't really know, I've always seen him as whinny and annoying to the max, he always seemed to try and do everything he did in the most annoying way possible, even if he did it how any normal person would, he just seems to annoy me as a character.

I don't think anyone is trying to say he's not reacting in a realistic manner. I doubt most of us would be able to do better. However this is a movie, it's suppose to be entertainment. If showing a character reacting in a realistic manner detracts from the general enjoyment of the movie, then guess what, that character is a failure. I would rather have a less realistic reaction that doesn't bug the hell out me and make me wish for the character's bloody demise.
I mean come on, the movies were about giant, shape changing alien robots, keeping things realistic is a bit of a stretch. Entertain me enough, and I won't give a damn if the normal guy caught in the middle of things isn't reduced to a blubbering, whiney mess.

The point where I really stopped giving a shit about him was when they're in the car with the Sector 7 guys and he finds out Mikala has a criminal record jacking cars... and he gives her an attitude. Seriously, this dork has a chick like her interested and he gives her shit about that? Boy just bombed his gay test. Frankly I was agreeing with the sector 7 guy, "That's HOT!"

Okay, you folks found him annoying. Like I said, mileage varies. I just felt it was realistic and not annoying.
Skids and Mudflap, however, were annoying and insulting.
