Re: Why do people like Kirk so much?
I'm gone for only two hours and look what happens
Picard-stalled the Borg by destroying a few ships
Janeway-devestated the borg with an uber-virus, destroyed dozens of their ships, and one of their six transwarp hubs
Kirk-stopped a doomsday weapon, and a giant machine ship thing that could eat ships, planets, and whatever else got in it's way.
Archer-stopped the Xindi from destroying Earth and fixed the timeline
Sisko-convinced the Prophets to eliminate an overwhelming force of 10,000 dominion ships
Hmm...ya...Picard really stands out there...not!

So? If he really respected picard he would look to him as an equal rather then someone whose life has been put in jeaperdy several times, like the first encounter with the borg or the puzzle in AGT which would've wiped out the human race. It's clear that he loves screwing around with him.

If Q didnt respect him he would screw around with humanity a lot more.
What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Evidence?Teaos wrote:If Q didnt respect him he would screw around with humanity a lot more.
If Q genuinely respected Picard, as opposed to being impressed by him on a few occasions, he'd bugger off and leave the man in peace - as he's told told to do on numerous occasions.

Didn't the other Q get pissed at him specifically for screwing with humanity (and other races)?Captain Seafort wrote:Evidence?Teaos wrote:If Q didnt respect him he would screw around with humanity a lot more.

Yes and that's why he had his powers stripped from him in Deja Q.Tsukiyumi wrote:

Killed-by weapons CREATED BY OTHER Q.Cpl Kendall wrote:I want people to stop crediting the Q with unlimited powers. We've seen that they can be killed, imprisoned, stripped of their powers and outwitted. Does that sound like a god to you?Teaos wrote:
Pretty much is.
He can do nearly anything he wishes. Control over time and creation... what more do you want?
Now a demi-god would be a better description.
Imprisoned-BY OTHER Q.
Stripped of their powers-BY OTHER Q.
You see the pattern here? Only other onipetent beings can even hope to HURT a Q. They are practically gods, more so at times.

But if they're omnipotent, shouldn't they be immune from punishment by other omnipotent beings?SuperSaiyaMan12 wrote:Killed-by weapons CREATED BY OTHER Q.Cpl Kendall wrote:I want people to stop crediting the Q with unlimited powers. Re: Why do people like Kirk so much?
Its more than that. Encounter at Farpoint began Q's test of Humanity to see if they can reach beyond normal limitations, choosing Picard as the 'victim'. Essentially, all of TNG was Picard attempting to pass Q's test, and not even realizing it. You see, if he failed-humanity'd be forbidden to go beyond the stars like they have been for centuries by that time, and Q really COULD do that. In the last episode, Picard PROVED humanity can go beyond its limitations, saved LIFE, by letting amino acids be created on Earth, etc.Teaos wrote:If Q didnt respect him he would screw around with humanity a lot more.

Re: Why do people like Kirk so much?
No. Because omnipotence vs omnipotence will lead to the death of one being. They aren't immune to themselves, and only very FEW beings can even hope to stand against a Q. They are omnipotent, have control over time, space, etc. Can survive the BIG BANG (as proven by Quinn). Plus, they are immortal, unchanging, as Quinn proved.

To echo Chakat, if their omnipotent, shouldn't they be immune from the actions of other omnipotents?SuperSaiyaMan12 wrote:

And lest you forget, he was hurt by Sisko and was afraid of a bartender.

He was known as the "God of Lies" on one planet. Think about what that implies.

You're contridicting yourself. If a being is omnipotent then they should be immune to other omnipotents. I guess it comes down to, what happens when an unstoppable force hits an unmovable object.SuperSaiyaMan12 wrote:No. Because omnipotence vs omnipotence will lead to the death of one being.
