If your piece looks like that I reccomend seeing a doctor ASAP.
What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

*ahem* speaking of design flaws, here's a doozy:
The thing is not a permanent station, although it is large enough tp house 2 cruisers at each quadrant - the flaw being, it has no engines. It must be towed into battle.

Oh my, as a building it's lovely; as a ship, it's hideous.

Now I love the Great Fox, the original Great Fox, but it does have it's flaws. It's only weapons are the two foward guns leaving her aft and flanks exposed. A weakness exposed when ambushed in Sector Z by a half-dozen copperhead missles. Whether its fighter squadren protects its flanks is up to you. Although she is tough, taking a direct hit and still flys to the Bolse station. It's not supposed to be in that kind of situation though, normally it is providing fire support from the sidelines or covered by the Cornarian Fleet. This weakness was also it's end in Star Fox Assault when the surviving ships of the Cornarian fleet were in retreat. Peppy, who was in command of the bridge at the time stayed as long as he could but the aparoids began infecting the Great Fox, severly damaging the hull before Peppy destroyed an aparoid base with the main guns and smashed through a shield, opening the way for the fighter squadren. The ship then exploded.
Re: Biggest design flaws ever!
StarFox's ships aren't that bad. The Ar-wing (?) is a really nice looking practical craft and the carrier wouldn't be a bad escort corvette or maybe frigate in other universes. It looks like it can fly relatively fast and it can take a beating as you pointed out.
How many Minbari does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
None. They always surrender right before they finish the job and never tell you why.

Does it fly with it's nose at a positive angle form horisontal, like a 'copter in reverse? I ask, because it look like there is a bit of an angle from the orientation of the nose to that of the guns by the hangar.

Mikey, the Ramilies Star Forts are meant to be permanent instalations. Numerous planets (usualy Hive Worlds, Forge Worlds or Fortress Worlds) have them emplaced as permanent orbital defences, and seeing as how they can take on a small fleet on their own, they're pretty potent weapons. IIRC, the reason they have warp drives is so they can be towed to the front line planets, to assist in defending them, but most appear to be permanently stationed around a planet (Cadia has four, for example, and I think Port Maw had a couple).
Well, it is a giant floating space cathedral of doom.Graham wrote:Oh my, as a building it's lovely; as a ship, it's hideous.

No...I think that's just the angle the ship is at in the picture.Mikey wrote:Does it fly with it's nose at a positive angle form horisontal, like a 'copter in reverse? I ask, because it look like there is a bit of an angle from the orientation of the nose to that of the guns by the hangar.
I'm not saying they're bad ships, and I love that there is an explination as to why the Arwing is better then the enemy ships. I'm just saying the Great Fox has a limited firing arc with it's only guns, which is a pretty big flaw considering how much James paid for it.StarFox's ships aren't that bad. As Rochey said, it IS a cathedral - any construction like this of the WH40k Imperium is meant as much as a shrine to/reminder of the divine might of the Emperor as a vessel of war.GrahamKennedy wrote:Oh my, as a building it's lovely; as a ship, it's hideous.
Rochey: you'll have to forgive me, I'm going by the Lexicanum - the WH40k wiki. The article seems to indicate that the Ramilies is meant for main battle actions, just that it needs to be towed there. Personally, I'd leave about 16 in the Cadia system if they didn't take a few centuries to build.

Re: Biggest design flaws ever!
No, the Lexicanum's wrong on that count. I have the BattleFleet Gothic: Armada ruelbook suplement, which gives the info on these things. They're purely defensive, designed with warp drives so they can keep up with the front lines and defend newly captured planets from counterattacks. Given that they can take on entire fleets and win, I'd say that it excells at that task.
