Post by Reliant121 »

Yet another one i love at the moment. anyone heard of it?

I'm annoyed at the moment. I lost just lost 6 Dorsetshire heavy cruisers in a single battle.

No, I haven't. I'll look it up, though. I loves me some fleet battles. :D

It is. Pacific storm allies, the stand alone sequel, is FAR Superior. Pacific storm was full of bugs, some of which never corrected. It does need a relatively good computer, even though the graphics arent fantastic. But the free campaign mode, where you can take the reigns of either Japan, UK or America is a hellova lot of fun.

The fleet battle i was just in was 6 Dorsetshire class heavy cruisers (I am UK) vs. 7 Benson Destroyers and 4 Lexington carriers. I retreated fairly quickly once the lead ship, HMS Dorsetshire's 203 mm cannons where gone. But in the end, i made a last ditch dive for glory. I took two of the carriers with me, due to torpedo runs so all wasn't lost.

I am totally keeping an eye out for this. My system specs are a bit light, but I can probably still run it.

I would recommend, if you do have a go at it, using majoritally Light or Heavy cruisers. Battleships are just so damned slow. I admit i mainly have experience of the older battleships (Hood or the Japanese Equivalent, cant remember its name). But they reload times on the Main guns are AWEFUL, 'specially since the Hood's have a almost non-existant secondary battery.
You can also modify the designs. Not structerally, equipment. Say i take a Fiji light cruiser, one of my favs btw. Instead of the standard triple 150 mm (or thereabouts) turrets, i can fit the duel 203 mm turrets from the larger Dorsetshires. I generally have two designs for each ship, one with kickass long range guns, and one more concentrated to have DP or AA guns.

EDIT:Tsuki, In game, they're ships are blue monotone lumps of crap

I know. I was messing with you.

The Japanese battleship was the Yamato-class - the most powerful battleships ever built.

Yamato

oh oh oh...there is also good deplomacy options. The war doesnt start in the historical settings. you are neutral to everyone (in free campaign anyway) If you get friendly enough, other races trade with you. The Germans, Dutch and Russians are all minor races in game. I had myself a battlegroup consisting of my standard British light cruiser fleet, a Maxim Gorky russian CA and a pair of De Ruyter light cruisers. Fun fun fun ^_^
