Yes. Maybe the longer time afforded to a television series will make it better? I don't know. I can barely read, a book, as it is.

This was better than the movie by far. I never read the books, so I have no reference to compare it against, nor any expectations otherwise. It's just a good television show. If I have to complain about something, I kind of don't like how everyone loves Lyra, just like that. Not a big deal. The actors are good, with the real standout being Ruth Wilson as "Mrs. Coulter." Wow does she play that character as evil. Not over the top evil, not hamming it up nor scene-stealing. But you can tell there's something going on in her mind. She's cold and reserved but sometimes it looks like she could explode in violence. The worst actor is Lin-Manuel Miranda as Lee Scoresby. It's really noticeable when he tries to come to terms with why he wants to help Lyra. It's a minor nuisance in the entire show though. The ending is a real gut punch for viewers and characters alike. I think it's worth a watch.
