At least 18 people have been killed in several shootings in the French capital, Paris, as well as explosions near the Stade de France.

French media say at least 15 people have been killed near the Bataclan arts centre. A hostage taking is under way, with reports of up to 60 held.

Reports suggest some spectators are leaving the hall, with police raiding the venue.

Three explosions are also reported outside a bar near the Stade de France.

France were hosting Germany in a friendly and the match continued. It has now ended.

At least one man opened fire at a restaurant in the 11th district, causing several several casualties.

A BBC journalist at the Petit Cambodge restaurant could see 10 people on the road either dead or seriously injured.

Police have now arrived and sealed off the area.

Now reports that there are 100 hostages taken.

Reports that there may have been multiple coordinated attacks - shootings at the Louvre.

Reports that there have been explosions.

Some reports of "several dozen" victims.

French President has announced a state of emergency and closed the French borders.

Paris residents being asked to remain indoors.

French police have confirmed that security forces have launched an attack on the hostage takers.

Operation complete. The hostage takers are both dead. No mention of how many hostages are still alive, or anything else yet.

Current suggestions are that there are 100 dead in the concert hall (the site of the hostage taking).

Now saying 118 dead in hostage theatre. Suggestions are that they started killing people prior to the troops going in. 40 others dead in other parts of Paris, taking count to 158.

Death toll in theatre now reached 120. There is a suggestion that there was 1,200 people at the concert.
