It makes sense, from a business point of view. Like it or not the prequels, whilst being critically panned, were financially big successes. Especially with kids. So view the next films not so much as sequels to the original trilogy as sequels to the prequels. And one of the things the prequels basically did was make the whole Star Wars trilogy be Annakin's story rather than Luke's. How do you go on to make further films without the star character? It's like making more James Bond films, only without James Bond in them. Or another Jaws movie only without a shark in it. Much safer to just put the star in there, regardless of plot sense.

The latest rumors is that they will be using the original cast in Episode 7. Not really wild about this.

I really think that the best thing for the series now would be a clean break with Episodes 1-6. Leave them as their own story and let Episode 7 to infinity go do their own thing. The EU's biggest downfall is just not being able to let go of the Skywalkers. I'd hate to see the movies do the same thing.
