How come? With the right technology, they'd be infinitely better than manned craft, with an almost non-existant accident rate, and there'd be no loss of life if a fighter gets shot down.

Programming would probably undergo high security and rigerous testing before actualy being put into something that can kill hundreds, and the threat of hacking is way overstated, from what I remember.
