Whether or not you agree with the death penalty, personally I'm on the fence leaning towards it being pointless, we're talking about 30 to 40 people per year who are convicted by a jury of their peers beyond a reasonable doubt of heinous crimes. They're given multiple appeals, multiple reviews of the case, and only then are they executed. Again, compared to an actual third world hell hole where looking at the wrong official funny will get shot in the head on their whim and where due process consists of a guy with a gun deciding you look guilty or he just doesn't feel like actually figuring things out?Actually, it is.
