Ok, I just unlocked the Athena class, colonized my fourth planet, and am going to take some time to solidify my forces now.
They say that in the Army,

Mark, take this time to build your colonies. Those will help you a lot more.
Don't start building your fleet until your resource production is faster then your research costs. That way you afford to build and research at the same time.

Very nice.
I just passed over the KBF guy who was attacking me. Not only have I replaced my losses but I've grown beyond my attacker.

I reached the point where they ask me if I wanna go into diplomacy mode. Should i accept? it's not permanent right?

Ok, when you fill up the colony bar at the top of the screen, does that mean no more colonies??? I'm maxxed out and need to spend some time upgrading them all.
