I think you all know that I would never defend Bush. I believe, though, that the problem is not one of hypocrisy, but of misunderstood goals. Bush tends to think in terms of groups, not ideals. In other words, when Saddam was committing atrocities against the Kurds, we rightfully adopted their side. Bush, unfortunately, has taken that to mean that they are on the right side of ANYTHING, and is in this case standing by the group - the Kurds - rather than standing by the correct side of the issue.
