Where did you get the idea that Trek (or even the federation) has not concept of religion? It's very clear from TOS that religion still exists, even amongst the crew. You only have to look at Kirk's speech when he's performing the wedding service in 'Balance of Terror'. Besides that even if all religions were dead and gone 'Christmas' would still be a holiday. I went with drone. I figure it like this. Let me and my buddies go in, IARs blazing. Take down 2 or 3 dozen drones each. When I run out of ammo either escape or have a buddy on stand by to rescue me. Then, repeat. I've had sharp burning bits of metal pulled out of my body before. Once they stick you with the magic needle, everything is ok.
