Re: Borg or Dead
nope.
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.
Re: Borg or Dead
Yeah, I wonder if the Borg like it... Apparently they don't all, otherwise they wouldn't have made Unimatrix 0 would they have.

Songs would be sung of you in Sto-Vo-Kor CPH . And, I second this idea.Captain Picard's Hair wrote:Count me in too. I can see DITL gathering, and a Borg attack: we'll all set our phasers on overload and the explosion will take out half the city! (eh, what's that? S'not real? Darn.)

I can just picture that. The city's in ruins, the Borg have lost countless current and potential drones, and even the Klingons are sitting back and saying "Damn... those guys were crazy."Captain Picard's Hair wrote:I can see DITL gathering, and a Borg attack: we'll all set our phasers on overload and the explosion will take out half the city! Warning: Erwin Schrodinger will kill you like a cat in a box. Maybe.
Re: Borg or Dead
Do we know what an assimilation process is like? Will we retain conciousness while something else controls our body? Will our minds still exist, or will they be warped around so much by the collective they are no longer recognizeable? Howe much pain is involved in the process of assimilation?
As soon as i get these things straightened out, I may have an answer.

Re: Borg or Dead
from what I've seen I'd guess that your consious mind as a Drone is the collective, you don't have a thought process at all. Your current concious mind becomes something like a subconcious, and if it's strong enough then it may access Unimatrix 0.
As for pain, i'd imagine there's some fair amount of pain...the look of everyone when they first get injected makes that process seem pretty painful, after that we have to use our imagination, but with the nanoprobes replacing orgons, and implanting their own systems I'd imagine it would hurt a little, plus it would feel really wierd as your organs start getting mooved around.

Yeah. Picard's description in 'Faimly' and the reactions of everyone ever assimilated make it look like hell on earth.
Re: Borg or Dead
I picked drone. Because before I was assimilated I would inject myself with a technobabble virus that would destroy the entire Borg race before my assimilation would finish, and leave me aware. Then a little surgery and I am a galactic hero.
Failing that, I hear photon torpedoes are rather explosive.

Re: Borg or Dead
Me too...........I'd take 'em down with me. A quick death by explosion or even vaporisation seems rather merciful to being assimilated. It LOOKS painful as hell, and I'm sure the Borg would say pain killers are irrelevent.
One thing that I've often been curious about..........if a phaser is set to setting eight or above, what is the point of putting it to your head? I mean, your instantly vaporised anyway, right? I was curious about that since O'Brian tried to take out half a deck with a phaser at setting 16 under his chin.

They say that in the Army,
the women are mighty fine.
They look like Phyllis Diller,
and walk like Frankenstein.

Re: Borg or Dead
I guess it just makes since....your head seems the most likely place to aim a weapon at yourself. otherwise your left with basicly what's below your belly button...none of which is really a lethal blow (in projectile terms).

Maybe aiming at the head is reflexive.
