If someone does swim the Atlantic, would someone then want to swim all the way around the world? :worried:

Kirk's explanation for climbing El Capitan - "Because it's there" - isn't enough for you? :P

No. That'a good reason for eating the last slice of pizza, not for life-threatening exertion.

Honestly, are you gooing to remember her name in a year? Better, until you read the article, did you remember the first man who swam the Atlantic - or even know that someone had?

No to all three, but there are people who'd do it just to get their names in the record books.

How do you swim in a cage?

A boat cruises alongside you, and tows it.

So she got "towed" then, sort of.

Well, she still would have had to swim, or she would have constantly been buffeted against the back of the cage.

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

It's not analogous to competing at the Olympics, as she wasn't competing against anyone. As far as I can tell, she was just trying to get form one place to another, when a boat or plane would have been more effective.

Clearly, the solution is to hold a race across the Atlantic. :P

I was pointing that out because of the similarity of the drive of some people to push themselves to new levels, some people do that by performing their art to bring honor to themselves and their nation, others do it by taking on new more challenging adventures.

And I'm pointing out that she did nothing of the sort. J.M.W. Turner created profound works of art in the early 19th century - profound enough, and with enough influence on art to follow, that I know his name even now in the year 2009. This woman - I'd have to go back and reread the article to be able to tell you her name.
