Ideas for new classes of starships
Re: Ideas for new classes of starships
Possibly but we need more pictures, though I agree in general form it appears similar to the Prometheus, though that could be a trick of the size.

Ah, I see.I was thinking that they were to the top and bottom off to the side with two others on the other side.
From a front view the nacelles would make an x off the body of the ship.

Which would make it even more like a Prommie.Lt. Staplic wrote:I was thinking that they were to the top and bottom off to the side with two others on the other side.

Re: Ideas for new classes of starships
yes, but the promi had a box like format so from the front it looked kind of like :-:, he said earlier that it was based off the promi anyway so that's probably why.

that's what i'm thinking, he based the ship off the promie, which looks like :-: from the front so i'm thinking that it lookes something like x or >-< from the front.

Re: Ideas for new classes of starships
ya, that was another opinion, but to me it looks like the two nacells you can see are coming toward us, indicating that there would be another pair coming off at 45 degrees on the other side as well.

Re: Ideas for new classes of starships
So would that make it a Prometheus without separation?
actually, I can understand that. The Prommie was a powerful ship on its own, and taking the MVAM would make it both simpler as well as cheaper to make without sacrificing much firepower.

Re: Ideas for new classes of starships
here's the ship I warned you about :
Plato Class*
Deep Space Explorer
20 decks
680m x 320m x 100m
1045 crew: 157 officers
Type 4 Calos
12x Rapid Fire Phased Pulse Cannons
4x Type 3 Burst Fire A-Class Torpedoes (1 Fore facing on Drive1, 2 Aft facing 1 on Drive 1, one on Drive 2)**
2x Type 4 Burst Fire A-Class Torpedoes (Foreward facing on Drive 2)**
2x Rapid Fire A-Class Torpedes ( Forewar Facing, 1 on Saucer1, 1 on Saucer 2)**
High Power SIF
Max Warp Speed: Warp 20
Sectional:
Saucer 1: Warp 11**
Saucer 2: Warp 10**
Drive 1: Warp 15**
Drive 2: Warp 13**
Can Seperate into 4 partialy self-sefficient ships for greater exploring capability.
Saucer 1: Top half of saucer section
Saucer 2: Bottom half of saucer section
Drive 1: Top part of Drive Section
Drive 2: Bottom part of Drive Section
The Plato Class was designed as the product of traditional vessils merged with the Promethius. This explorere is designed to be the best scout explorer to date, and was put into production c. 2417. The Ship can seperate into four distinct vessils to explore and chart anomolous regions such as nebulae or asteroid fields, then recombine with relitive ease. The ship can also use the ability for tactical purposes but this move isn't highly recomended as the seperated ships are much weaker on a whole than the ship when fully assembelled.
* for new tech not explained here see previous ship design posts.
**Ship seperation see second diagram

No offense, but that Plato class looks pretty ugly.

And horrendously complex by the looks of it.
