The Enterprise-D transports a set of tissue samples donated by the Mikulaks to Nahmi Four in hopes of using them to help contain an outbreak of Correllium Fever there. Contaimination from the samples causes several systems failures aboard the ship. The situation is resolved with the help of engineer Lieutenant Barclay, who is able to arrive at a solution despite suffering from severe shyness, social ineptitude, and a mild case of holodiction.
