NotesImagesTimelineQuotes
Universe : Prime Timeline
Name : George Samuel Kirk [1]
Species : Humans

George Samuel Kirk, Jr., was a human male, son of George and Winona Kirk, brother of the famous James T. Kirk, was born in Riverside, Iowa on Earth [2] He was often known as Sam to almost all who knew him, however, [3] his brother James always thought he was the only person to call him that. [4]

Winona, Sam and James spent the majority of the children's early childhood following George senior from one posting to another, to the point at which the children hardly ever saw their father. [5]

On stardate 2259.42, Sam was assigned to the USS Enterprise sciences department under the command of Lieutenant Spock. [6] He worked as a xenoanthropologist [5] with the rank of lieutenant junior grade. [6]

Sam was part of the landing party that visited comet C/2260-Quentin to find a way to prevent it from colliding with the planet Persephone III. Sam was injured during he mission and transferred back to the USS Enterprise. [3] He evenually recovered from his injuries. [7]

His next away mission was to the frozen planet of Valeo Beta V to discover why the USS Peregrine had crash landed. When it was discovered that there was Gorn involvement, Sam was notably stressed by the situation. Doctor M'Benga even suggested that Sam be given a sedative, but Pike believed he was "stronger than stronger than he looks". Once the Gorn threat was ended they tractored the ship into orbit and towed it away for repair. Sam attended the funeral of Hemmer and the other lost crew. [8]

When the USS Enterprise was called to Bavali Station to assist in bringing a new deuterium refinery online; James, Sam's younger brother, was visiting. Together Sam, James and Uhura identified that an extra dimensional lifeform was living in the deuterium of Brannon's Nebula and that the refinery was killing them. Realising the problem the station was destroyed by the Enterprise. Sam would later write a paper about the incident which James would call "thrilling". [5]

Having come to terms with his deficiencies during his previous Gorn encounter, Sam volunteered to help rescue any survivors on survivors of a Gorn attack on Parnassus Beta. At the same time try and identify and weaknesses in the Gorn. Based on Scotty's description of the Gorn's reaction to the coronal mass ejections in a near by system; Sam postulated that they were reacting to the flares in a similar way to to locusts. [9]

By 2259, Sam was married to Aurelan and they had three sons, including Peter. [1]

After leaving Starfleet he became a research biologist and had settled on Deneva. In 2267 neural parasites infested the planet after being brought from Ingraham B. Sam was killed by the infection; his wife, Aurelan, died soon after the USS Enterprise arrived to battle the disease. His son, Peter, lived and was cured of the infection. [1]
