I read the original Earthsea trilogy when I was quite young and loved it. As an adult, I liked the philosophy and thematic content of Left Hand of Darkness more than the artistry of it, and in general appreciated her short stories more than anything else.

I feel a bit silly, but I'd never heard of her... Worth a read?

Left Hand of Darkness is, if you care for philosophical, heavily-thematic SF.
