The battles of Ligny and Quatre Bras were fought between the French Army of the North, the Anglo-Dutch Army of Flanders and the Prussian Army of the Lower Rhine.

I remember reading the unabridged Les Miserables and hitting the twelve or fifteen page digression on Waterloo. Then there was the even LONGER digression on the Parisian sewer system...
