Ann Coulter: still trying to return us to the paleolithic

Seriously, GOP - how come you haven't blue-crossed her just to get her to shut up?
Paragon of forward-thinking and open-mindedness Ann Coulter, with one statement, incorporated racism; defense of sexual harassment; voluntary blindness to the faults of her own party's representative; and an ivory-tower mindset towards any ignorant plebeians who have the temerity to disagree with her ideology.
I wish I had made this up, because it would speak volumes for my sense of humor... but she really said, "
Our blacks are... better than their blacks."

Wow. Just reading that I wanna punch her right out, but I'm not sure her brain's developed enough to feel the pain.

Heh. I prefer simply re-watching this:
Coulter vs Paxman

Indeed. With someone like her, a metaphorical bitch-slap is just as good as an actual one. I understand that there are people out there with different ideologies from mine; what I don't understand is how someone whose
profession is public sound bites can continue to go on with no filter between her brain (such as it is) and her mouth.

Because that's what works. She's a very successful writer, and is popular enough among a large enough section of the US population that she'll continue to be successful. With a population as large as yours you're guaranteed to have a very large number of fucking idiots.

And people who will, sadly, agree with said fucking idiots.

I know she's only successful because she's got an audience. However, she's also a de facto voice of the GOP; with Kindjal, Steele, et. al. over the past few years, haven't they had enough of individuals representing them - officially or otherwise - so poorly that they'd try to muzzle her? I mean, even the Republicans have got to say to themselves once in a while, "Dear Lord, she's an embarrassment."

True, but they've probably decided that the benefits of shutting her up are outweighed by the inevitable backlash from those who think her drivel is the next best thing to Holy Writ or Sarah Palin's latest verbal diarrhoea. Given the extent to which the far right has directed the Republicans over the last few years they might well be right.

I suppose, and I guess the overarching issue is that the fringe right has been leading the GOP by the nose for some time now. What I also don't understand is how guys like Cain and Steele can happily subscribe to a party - no matter their own political views - which holds as an example a person who can use phrases like "our blacks" and "their blacks."
