I believe the website crashed more than once with the sheer volume of traffic it received on its first day.

Yeah pretty much. You will be seeing a bunch of petitions for everything stupid and weird.

Trending petitions seem to focus around capital punishment, petitions against capital punishment and formula 1 broadcasting issues. So far I have seen only one serious petition, being that other dominions outside the United Kingdom should also be able to apply for full membership of the United Kingdom.

The government already runs e petitions, has for years. If I remember right they were introduced under Gordon Brown and amusingly one of the early ones was a call for him to resign.

I'm glad to see that Biggus Dickus and Seymour will begin to have a greater influence on the government.
