On Palin: Yes, I know that some small portion of the criticisms levelled at her are hyperbolic and undeserved. However, they are still out there; and if the GOP wants to save any face at all in the near future (instead of letting talking anuses like Jindal and Steele keep spouting) they need to distance themselves from her farther than Russia is from her house.

That's the key, Palin's character has been assassinated to such a degree that even the bulk of the party won't get behind her. She's got no chance at all. She'll get some support from a portion of the party and hang in the primaries for a while but in the end she'll get stomped by someone who can rally the entire party and attract the ~~indecisive dumbasses~~ undecided moderates.
