New Element
New Element
117.
Sadly I don't have a link to it. But its temp name is Ununcentium or some such-- whatever Latin is for 117. Anyway pretty cool stuff. I wonder what the upper limits an element can actually get to under current theories.

How many Minbari does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
None. They always surrender right before they finish the job and never tell you why.

Re: New Element
They should call it Unobtanium.
Seriously, though, that's pretty cool. Yet again, science rocks. 8)

Re: New Element
That's standard practice - they name all elements by their Latin atomic number as a placeholder until someone comes up with a permanent name for them. Why they don't simply name them "Element 117", "Element 118", etc, I don't know.

Because Latin sounds all science-y and elitist.Captain Seafort wrote:That's standard practice - they name all elements by their Latin atomic number as a placeholder until someone comes up with a permanent name for them. Re: New Element
If an element is discovered in a thousand years maybe it'll get an English name as a place holder. And aye its just a temporary name. It was discovered by a joint US-Russian research team so maybe something along those lines. Let's just hope its not called Peacium or something equally as retarded ![Razz :P](./images/smilies/icon_razz.gif)
