The next Group Design Project

We made a ship, we made a race, we made an entire universe....

What about the next Star Trek Series?

Imagine Paramount came to us and asked us to create the next series...we'd run it like we have all the other group design projects, an individual thread with a poll for each stage.

Any one up for it?

Crew morale would be at an all time high, supplemented by an all new low in productivity lol

I want someone from Force Recon as Chief of Security.

And as a counterforce for that Force recon, someone deeply indoctrinated by the federation to be exactly the pussy they want their citizens to be. :P
*someone punches another guy*
Fed: How can you do this/ There is no violence in the federation!
Someone: There is now.

Sure, I'm game.

I think the first question would be what era would it be set in. ENT era? TOS era? TNG era? Somewhere in between? Post-Dominion War?

Then the Marine laughes.

I vote for post. It would be nice to see what the ST Universe looks like after the Dominion War.

Agreed, post dominion war gives us the most flexibility. I'd push for at least ten years after ST:X

Would that be during or after the fall of the RSE? Both would be VERY interesting times.

The death of the RSE.
The return of the KE to power.
The UFP dealing with its personal. (Remember that the peace lovers of Pre-DW would be dead or retired, leaving most of SF under DW minded officers) So we're going to have a lot of military minded persons in SF.

Touch upon the one thing I despise most in Trek's current time line.

I'd probably have it just after the destruction of Romulus.

I think we need to go a lot further into the future than that - a few centuries at least. We should have as the basic concept the Federation being one of the major powers of the galaxy, along with the Dominon, Borg, Voth, Krenim, etc. The new Enterprise could be either the lead ship of a task force, or even the sole vessel, conducting Starfleet's first mission of exploration to another galaxy (possibly Andromeda).

I dunno. At that point I'd be hard to maintain any of the current Star Trek asethetic by anything but fiat. And since we're designing a series we need to be able to tie it to the parent franchise. I could support going a few decades but not a few centuries.

I would have said about 30 - 50 years after ST:X, with a similar idea to Seafort's - more commonplace interaction with the GQ, and regular exploration of/contact with the DQ.
