Any of you guys watched this? I watched the first episode that aired in the UK on Monday. Looks intriguing! It even has Sulu in it
“To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and
the affection of children...to leave the world a better place...to
know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is
to have succeeded.”
Does it? He wrote for 24 last season, and I was shocked at how good it was.
There is only one way of avoiding the war – that is the overthrow of this society. However, as we are too weak for this task, the war is inevitable. -L. Trotsky, 1939
Saw part two last night. Interesting so far, leaving me wanting it to be the next episode already. There are some pretty wide open holes in the plot though. I'll discuss them in spoiler mode below:
Let's see if I'm getting this straight. Everybody on Earth blacks out for two and a bit minutes. How many hundreds of millions of people would die because of this? Still, shortly after in the hospital, it's like a normal day in the office. Hmmmm.
I think a lot more could have been made of the human tragedy of it all. A greater depiction of the catastrophic outcome would have definitely enhanced the show.
This thing affected the whole planet, right? How comes the FBI took it upon themselves to sort it all out?
Just some random musings

Without even watching the show: Cuz this is America. F*ck yea!
{probably}
"All this has happened before --"
"But it doesn't have to happen again. Not if we make up our minds to change. Take a different path. Right here, right now."
Yeah but the FBI? This seems to transcend a simple criminal act. I'd think the CIA would be the guys leading this. The FBI would certainly have a role but with something world wide I have trouble seeing them taking the lead.

Fair point. Perhaps someone (the writers or the government in the film) really has no idea what the heck's going on so they figured "eh we'll give it to the FBI"? (Or the producer's watched a few too many X-Files episodes?)

Someone needs to call Austin Powers

Anyone here been keeping up with this? I think it's steadily getting worse. For lack of anything better to watch, I'll stick with it but I think Brannon Braga is working his old magic again...
