It's not only The View and The Today Show that are going crazy for sexy texting-China's threatening a crackdown on people sending seductive messages to each other as well.
Henan province promises a lockup of "up to five days" for one message, or ten days for 3 messages. If you're going to send three, you might as well do it in a chunk to get the discount rate.
"I'm totally for the rules. It's uncomfortable to get dirty text messages from male friends and even more gross when they are from strangers," Zhang Kai, 26, told the daily.
What's even better is that the normal people are questioning why so much government effort is being spent in this area.
Since July 10, Shenze party officials have held 480 meetings to discuss the harmful effects of obscene messages, a degree of dedication that has been questioned by the public, the People's Daily said.
"It's not necessary to hold 480 meetings on this. This is an enormous waste of administrative resources," an Internet user named Han Haoyue was quoted as saying.

Ok, between minors or from adults to minors maybe but... between adults and they crack down like this? What about between married couples? If I send my wife a dirty message would I go to jail? And why is this that important? Even for China this seems out there.

Well this makes it sound like they mean unwanted sex text messages. Maybe they mean to make it punishable to harrass someone through text?

Or maybe thats the what the Chinese government are telling its citizens...doesnt mean its actually what they are doing.

Yeah, I think it's like spam texting dirty messages, which is just weird...

I for one am a huge fan of sexting (as its called these days for you squares
).
Of course, this would be between two consenting adults that are enjoying themselves. I have a couple of friends who get sexted by people they don't know or like, and it's a disconcerting experience to say the least. However, the government involving itself in something like this is simply silly. They have people starving to death, and they are going to spend money on monitoring text messages...please

A lot of phones can be configured to block messages and calls from people now.
