He's saying that there are others who would agree with the fake news channel.

There are. I for one was somewhat heartened by Abrams' interview on "The Colbert Report" in which he basically said that instead of trying to make a great 'Trek film, he tried to make an intelligent A/A film which happened to be set in the 'Trek world.
