No comments on the big Indian city getting blown up?

I don't know what to say. It's pretty numbing really. Such a massive attack by another set of extremists, and for what? I don't know. Does anybody?

They were specifically targeting Americans and Britons, and they're Islamists, so I'd say the reason is pretty self-evident.

I was just about to post this thread, actually.
Last I heard (and that was this morning, so expect the numbers to have gone up), there's 100+ dead, 300+ wounded and 100-200 taken hostage in various hotels. They're apparently Islamic, and began searching tourists for British or American passports. I've also heard that they attacked a bar that's popular among Jews in the city, and 6 high-ranking police officials, including the head of the Anti-Terror Squad, were killed early in the attack. A little-known Muslim terrorist organisation has claimed responsibility, and have demanded that Islamic militants being held in prison be released.
It sounds like complete chaos over there.

Usual reasons I expect. Spread fear and panic. Try to damage or destroy the tourism industry in that country. Grab headlines, generate publicity for their cause.

Impessive in its scope. Apparently some high ranking officials are dead/missing.

Yeah. As grim and gruesome as acts like these are, the scale - and the coordination and execution of a plot of this scale by this mystery organization - were quite impressive. As disgusted as you are at these people, you have to have some grudging respect for how well they pulled this off.

We, as a people, don't frequent bars much. I, of course, endeavor to be an iconoclast...

No I don't. I've always been keen to point out the difference between killing and murder... and this is murder. On a grand scale, no less. Murder executed in an organized and well-planned manner is still murder. I don't care if they targeted Jews, Americans, Brits, Cypriots, Lapps, or Mongolian yak-herders.

It
is a hell of a large distinction.

He and I werent at all saying it was right or at all good. Just the fact that the scale of it is impressive.

I understand. I'm just saying that things of that nature don't impress me.

I just will never understand how these mass murderers can justify their actions before a God who brought forth life into the world.
