I might get to meet Joe Biden tomorrow

Post by Monroe »

He's coming to my tiny college for a speech. I got a friend who works for the Obama campaign he's going to try to get me backstage. Which will be awesome.

I already got the one question I'd ask:

If connections were discovered that linked the Bush administration to treasonous activities would the Obama administration seek retribution under the full extent of the law.

Good question. Unfortunately, no, they wouldn't. Regardless of what they might say.

Honestly it would be kind of pointless.

It would take so long and cost so much.

Better to just move on and fix the country.

Aye, once Bush is out of power I really don't give a shit. It'd be nice to see justice kick him in the arse, but it ain't happening. One day, in the future, historians will look back and know the full truth of the Bush administration.

That, or relativism applies, because Clinton regime was relatively good copared to the Bush administration. The same thing may apply to what we find in the office after Bush. I think thatthe next president will shape our views of Bush, primarily because we tend to look at the past to see how conditions are now.

I tend to agree. We don't have to look too hard to find evidence of Bush's wrongdoing; but what is typical - and probably most forward-thinking - is to let the past be past. I personally would ask Biden why the Dem campaign, considering the terrorist comments and allegations of foreign Muslim interests that have been levelled at Obama, hasn't further played McCain's involvement in Contra-gate.

I'd guess they dont like to play dirty. Something I can respect. They know they are winning so they dont need to.

You're right, of course, but I do get enraged by that sort of hypocrisy.

Well he's a real personerable guy. I didn't get to say more than a few words with him so I dropped the question. Instead I just wished him luck winning. He's easy to like and had a great case for why Palin shows McCain's bad judgement. It was kind of strange, it wasn't a town hall approach but it was only a 500 person crowd. Apparently I was pretty lucky to have connections. People were scalping tickets for $75. Basically I shook his hand spoke a few words, and then was smothered by a huge press of other people towards the creepy secret service guys.

creepy secret service guys
Do they actually look like the ones in movies, the whole suit and glasses deal?

Well they didn't have glasses since I was waiting in line at the ass crack of dawn. But they constantly scanned the crowd and they kept giving me evil looks. Every hand movement would cause their eyes to track it. Really bizzare but pretty cool. Though they looked odd because they never stood (the seated ones) or sat (the standing ones) nor clapped. They just kept starring at the people in their quadrant. Each secret service dude seemed to have been assigned a group of people to watch.

Nice. He's a really great candidate.
