Well, there you have it. So much for McCain separatiung himself from the GOP when they're acting like putzes. He got the nod, and now he's the king of the putzes. With any luck, America will see exactly what kind of pandering and empty jingoist rhetoric they're trying to pull, and "king of the putzes" will in fact be the last position he'll hold.

My buddy in the Corps who fought in Iraq is going to f*cking flip out when he hears this. He may just vote Obama yet. He's already said he may not vote at all, due to McCain's bullsh*t.

I guess McCain is being a maverick again. Must have been Giuliani's idea. 9/11 is his one and only meal ticket.

Oh my God. It's more horrible than I thought. I thought they just showed the buildings and the airplanes. They made a freaking video with timely music for the explosions.

Wow, that's assholishness on a level that I've rarely seen.
The September 11 precedent was one of the few surviving campaign-season taboos. It is survived by direct comparisons of one's opponents to Hitler.
They're wrong. I distinctly remember Obama being compared to Hitler when he drew those massive crowds when he spoke in Germany.

Jesus Christ, just what the fuck is up with the US elections?

Heh I'm watching Faux news right now and they dont have a thing on it. Although I can't say I'm suprised, I honestly doubt whether it will cause that much of a stir.

That's a pretty douchebag move. Love the mindless chanting crowd though. War is Peace, Ignorance is Strength, you get the picture.

It's the worst thing I have ever seen. I can honestly say that. John McCain is a horrible person. I can't believe I once thought highly of him. And WTF was that audience cheering for? They love Osama bin Laden that much? Love the World Trade Center blowing up? Love people dying? Lowlife move. Classless crowd.

Granted I'm not American so I dont have the same emotional responce as you do but I think that would be going a bit far.

I wonder if they asked the families of all the people that died that day how they felt about using the footage for a campaign ad? Somehow, I doubt any of them would be pleased.

No, you're right. I am letting my emotions get the best of me. It bothers me a great deal though.

That was a truly sick thing to use as a political campaign video. I agree with the presenter at the end of the clip.

Just one point though, when it says 'It is survived by direct comparisons of one's opponents to Hitler.', this means that that comparison is still being used. If I where to die then it would be put in an obituary that 'I am survived by my wife', meaning my wife is still alive. In this context the use of comparison to Hitler is still alive and in use. The point being that doing that is on the same level (the relatives of) using 9/11 for political gain. Everyone in the comments page on the original article and here seems to have missed that point.

Edit: Actually, thinking about it, I'm wrong. It would be that the taboo is still alive. Go figure.

At least we know Robert Davi is Republican now.

He was ugly enough already, IMO.

Seems to me, Ian, that they're saying that comparing oponents to Hitler is a taboo that hasn't been broken yet.
