There are a lot of disgruntled Hillary supporters who won't vote for Obama because he has a penis. McCain may have just wooed them over to his side with a female Vice President.

There's that and the fact that in some ways she is more a conservative than he is. She is also small town, people in from a similar background might relate to that. Having a son who is a soldier with likely draw some votes from people in a similar situation, particularly those that have lost family. This is especially important if her son has or is serving in Iraq/Afghanistan since so few Elected Officials have family there it points to her having much in common with regular people. He has been willing to point out corruption and fight against it which is also a nice touch. All of this is just from the article, I agree it is an odd choice considering his attacks on Obama but at the same time I can understand why he would pick someone like this.

I really hope Obama's guys start throwing the "inexperience" attacks back at them now.

Uzume and I agree that McCain may have thoroughly Cheney'd himself in the foot here...

How come? If anything this will reign in the moronic femenists and bitter Clinton supporters.

Um. Bush won. Twice. What does "Cheneying oneself in the foot" mean.

At any rate McCain is getting started early on dropping bombs. I'm not watching TV now. But my wife said that the newscasters were shocked and that's all that's getting airtime politically at the moment. Anything that happened at the DNC is completely out of the spotlight, as is most other news.

That said I think it was a wise move on his part. While Obama has been slipping in the poles as Iraq gets better and Russia gets worse I think McCain was in a tricky position. So he's taking a gamble and I have a feeling it will pay off.

Kneejerk reaction: All I can see at this point is the gender card. This is the only way McCain is going to steal the press' (and therefore the public's) attention away from Obama. I think this is a stupid choice in terms of an actual vice president, but the way the whole screwed-up election system works, it'll probably serve McCain really well. Which really pisses me off, cause I'm one of them crazy California liberals.

I think it'll work well for two reasons.

1) Palin's a woman. Therefore a lot of Hillary's mob, who were leaning McCain's way anyway on the grounds that he's running against Obama who beat Clinton, will vote for him. Stupid, but eminently plausable.

2) She's a conservative. This will likely settle the Republican core voters who instinctively mistrust McCain despite his recent charge rightwards.

Yeah really. If McCain wins US did hit its peak in the 90s. Which would be very sad I think.

If McSame wins then I officialy abandon all hope for the USofA.

At the risk of offending American members (I don't intend to), just what the f*ck is the problem with the US's elections? Nowhere else on the planet do I see crap like this going on. Now, before certain members jump on me for saying that, I'm in no way saying that elections in European countries are perfect, but I'm being completely honest when I say that you just don't see this type of sh*t happening over here. Just why does this blatant stupidity exist over there?

Part of the problem as I see it is the long run up to the elections. The average election time here is about three months from Parliament being dissolved to finish. The Americans seem to have been going on for a bout a year now. Then it just simpley seems that the average voter is a goddamn retard.
