Take a look at Political Discussion in America.

From way back on May 16th, 2008 on Hardball.

Chris Matthews is doing a debate with Republican radio host Kevin James (neo-Con) and Air America Radio president Richard Greene (Liberal). Basically it all turns into Matthews educating Kevin James on what the meaning of the word "appeasement" is. The original topic was about George W. Bush's veiled attack on Barack Obama's idea to talk to enemies first. Kevin James compares Obama to Neville Chamberlin as an appeaser except he does not even know what Chamberlin actually did. All James knows is that "Chamberlin is an appeaser." Chris Matthews puts Kevin James down. In the meantime Richard Greene is hardly getting a word in. It's rather funny.

Is it this way in anyone else's country?

No we only get 3 official debates between the party heads and they are rather heavily prepared.

Not in the slightest, I watch American news and feel sorry for you guys. Even Al-Jazzera on occasion presents a less biased view than Fox or CNN, which can best be described as far-right and right. Anyone remember the CNN "athiest panel" which contained no actual athiests and was basically a slander fest?

I never saw that one. But I am not surprised. It's CNN. Did the panel bring up Hitler and Stalin? It's the typical way to attack Atheist.

Watch for yourself. All the major anti-athiest highlights are there.

I can't believe I like a Stephen A. Smith point of view. The black lady is clearly intolerant of Atheists and probably a horrible person to know, the Jewish lady is scared of Islam because Atheists are weak? WTF is she talking about? Personally, i am not an Atheist because i just can't be 100% sure God doesn't exist. However I do believe in Evolution, I believe in the separation of Church and State, and I believe that freedom from religion is vital to a free and democratic society.

That isn't a party head it's some wanker from the radio that I've never heard of.

As for CNN they get accused of bias by both sides. Sometimes it's well founded. This time no. That wasn't an "atheist panel" that was a "out in the open" panel. I don't watch her show. But I get the impression that they might not have even known what stories would come up, certainly Zahn didn't know what the positions of the people would be from her "anybody going to defend them" statement. Odds of pulling four people at random in America and getting all theists would be about a 33% chance and that seems to be what happened.

I believe similar thoughts to you but I choose to call myself an Agnostic. basically, you proove god exists ( or some other devine creator, whatever his/hir/her name is) until then I'm gonna side with science and the glory that is humankind's intelligence*

Sory that should have been "athiest discussion panel", which is what I thought I wrote. And frankly, if you've got evidence that CNN pulled four random fools of the street for this than I'd like to see it. It would make CNN merely incompetant rather than malicious.

Whichever. My point is they weren't either. They were her "out in the open" panel. I don't know how they're selected. Atheists blowing out internal organs in rage blocks most other information on her show, but I did get the transcript for the show.
http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/ ... zn.01.html

First off I notice the atheist thing doesn't even make the list of main stories. Getting beaten out by examining why its been 98 years since America elected a fat president.

The main theme of the episode was racism and if there was anything the panelists were brought in for it was that. Being as the panel consisted of two black people and the author of "Why Black Men Love White Women"

There just happened to be the Atheist story in that episode. I guess if you want to bitch about something in the episode it could be that the Atheist story was sort of just along for the ride instead of being the main story.

Oh, and on the panelists I found this transcript hilarious in that Zahn doesn't know the people who were invited to the panel and introduces two of them as the other.
