Make Your Own Movie Plot

YOU are given the chance to write an original Trek movie (any crew... assume all actors are still alive and well, as if it were 15 years ago). What is the plot?

I want to see more Borg, but it was done so soon before! I'd have the TNG cast (I'm sorry!). Something big, actiony, and dramatic. Like how Nemesis should have been but without the stupid things. Perhaps a remake of ST6, but with the Romulans instead of the Klingons

Screw TNG. They're all a buncha drones. Do a DS9 or VOY cast movie. Voyager's cast probably split up after the end, but the DS9 cast could easily reunite without stretching belief too much and would tie up the loose ends of Bajor and Sisko.

I'd keep the fundamental aspects of Generations (TNG era film, killing off Kirk to pass the baton, destroying the E-D) while getting rid of the crap (killing off Kirk in a punchup to save a random planet-of-the-week, losing the E-D to an obsolete heap of junk).

And I heartly approve of the idea of making the Romulans the bad guys.

to save a random planet-of-the-week
Well, at least the Earth wasn't doomed again. Earth is such a trouble magnet. It either Borg this, alien doomsday device that, it gets tired after a while.

True. I maintain, however, that there's a balance to be struck between "Earth's in danger yet again" and "random planet we've never heard of before and never will again is in danger".

Yes, pre-warp planet we've never heard of was a bit to far on the other end of the scale. I'm thinking a DS9 movie should be about Bajor in danger rather then earth.

Look at ST II, look at ST VI. Two of the greatest of the Trek movies, and Earth was never in any danger in either one of them.

Right, but look at ST I, IV, First Contact, Nemisis, and about 2 dozen episodes per series. Even Voyager had to save Earth and they're supposed to be in the Delta Quadrent.

I think he was agreeing with you actually.

Personally I'd get back to Trek as it was meant to be, boldly going out and solving some major mystery which may or may not alter the balance of power in the region/threaten earth/require the crew to reverse the polarity of some technobable device no one has ever heard of or is likely to ever again...

As great at STVI was, the politics of the Romulans would have been more subtle than the Klingon approach of "Let's blow them out of space!"

If I were Rochey, though, I'm not sure I'd show them my Nemesis rewrite. :)

Maybe reintroducing a species of the week? 8472? Voth?

As long as the E-E (with Riker and Sisko in support) head up I ain't bothered

Simple. I would've done a movie involving Q; that way, pretty much anything goes.

I never really could figure why they didn't go that route with at least one of the movies.

Have the E-E involved either in the Dominion War or some issue involving Bajor a/o the Cardassians; I'd love to see a deeper exploration of the Picard/Sisko interaction, an O'Brien and Work reunion with their old shipmates, the Riker v. Kira power struggle, and Picard take the E-E into a normal fleet action (as in, not vs. a Borg cube or super-ship.)
