Good deal. If only somebody had told Bush that Iraq is made up of multiple groups that hate each other more than they care for their own well being.

This says it all. For the moment, they've been declared dead and a failure before and bounced back. I'll bet anyone here that after the winter they'll be back and just as persistant as before."I can therefore judge the Taliban insurgency a failure at the moment," said Brig Carleton-Smith. "We have reached the tipping point."

They will never win the war on terror. It is impossible.
What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Its too broad of a statement. Its worse than the 'war on drugs'. Now if we declare victory after Afghanastan is fixed and make a treaty to help protect countries against future terrorists we can keep the 'war' going and on the offensive and at the same time having the bennifit of saying we won.Teaos wrote:They will never win the war on terror. How many Minbari does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
None. They always surrender right before they finish the job and never tell you why.

Yeah "winning" the war on terror requires an evolution of the middle east that isn't going to be around for a long time. It's more of a matter of whether we're just dealing with some bozos in the desert, an organization that is free to operate, or actual terrorist backing countries, which Afganistan was.
That was actually a better war to have launched.
