I have the first 20th aniversary game (along with Judgement Rights). I install it on my computer. I go to play it and a message comes up talking about extended memory or something like that. To my understanding, it is a type of memory that is unused anymore (as in, not standard). Can anyone help me. Preferably someone who has either had the problem before or is better with a computer than me, though any suggestions are appritiated.

What OS are you using? And if you throw up some system specs it would help a great deal.

I am running XP... the game worked on my old computer w/xp (my old computer was garbage).
My computer has more than the required specs to run the game, I'm just wondering what extended memory really is.
I will post my system specs as soon as I get home, who knows when that will be.

It's an old game. TOS.
You generally control Kirk, Spock, McCoy and an expendable redshirt.

It was DOS based right? You might need an emulator.

Extended memory is a term for everything above the first megabyte of ram (it's from the old 640K limit). IIRC you can change it through HIMEM.sys, though it's been 5 years since I've done anything with it (I also don't have XP anymore) so don't ask me how to change it.

While it was DOS based, it worked outside of MS-DOS.
Thanks for the help.

ahhh those games were hilariously fun. They even let you kill red shirts!

Can you post your DxDiag?

That was easily the best ST game made, Armada was close but it was a nice touch to copy the series in such detail.

http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/100/S ... rsary.html

This is an abandonware site (if you are unfamiliar with the term, it is a grey area where games are so old, or with no clear copyright owner, that the copyright isn't enforced.) This is the page for the 25th Anniversary game - I don't know if this is the one you have. They have down-loadable programs that will let you run it, and a forum page for the game where you can get advice on ironing out the bugs. I think the people who have abandonware as a hobby enjoy the technical challenge of running the games to playing them.....

Ok. Earlyer than the weekend. I have installed the emulator and the game. Works well. Turns out that I had the enhanced cd (actors actually speak). I wonder if I could run from the CD with the emulator to make the original game work.
