True. I'll endeavor to ignore the right-wing extremism and remember the fine entertainment he's provided over the years.

Well, I don't recall ever seeing him in a film I've watched, so I have no problem being glad that there's one less right-wing lunatic on the planet.

For real? You've never seen
Ben-Hur? Or
Planet of the Apes? Or
The Tem Commandments? Or
Soylent Green? Or
Midway? Or
The Omega Man? Or
The Agony and the Ecstasy? Or
Major Dundee? Or
El Cid? Or
Touch of Evil? Just a small sample.

Oh, well, now I actualy do remember. I saw
Ben-Hur and
Soylent Green. Don't remember any of the others though.
Now, if you'll excuse me I'm off to pry that gun out of his cold, dead hands.

Take your stinking hands off him, you damned dirty ape!
Was always good fun to watch, even if he was a bit of a nutjob. For me, his finest moment was his cameo appearence in Friends,
"Put some pants on kid, so that I can kick your butt" has to rank as one of the best tough guy lines.

If I recall, being NRA president was about the only right-wing behavior he ever displayed. Don't get me started on the right to gun ownership again. The Supreme Court finally settled that issue once and for all anyways.
RIP Charlton Heston

RIP Charlton Heston
The guy wrote a book "How to be a man." I instantly lost respect.
But yes, RIP.

On a note from a related thread; Charlton Heston marched alongside Dr. Martin Luthor King for advancement of civil rights during the '60s. I was unaware of that, but it's good to know.

Very strange in light of his later comments about race issues.

He had tin-pot syndrome in his later years. Otherwise known as alzhiemers.

He had right sided views but I wouldn't call him a right sided extremist.

He was about 300 years old, also. My take is this - he was an actor. His political views mean about 2 rat's asses to me, but I will always appreciate the terrific performances he gave..

In America he's definitely not as bad as the super far right gets, at least as far as we know from what he would say in front of cameras and in books and what not. Though that's not saying a whole lot, even moderately strong right is still pretty ugly.

Agreed. So what about his political views, he was a great actor. If he were still alive, I'm sure he'd have gotten around to kicking Tom Cruise's ass sooner or later. He was very well built, even later in his years.
