Yeah, I would think something picket/heavy scout sized, room for just enough cargo to make the odd profitable trading run, and armament scrounged from as many different sources as possible. Makes it more realistic as we're a bunch of technically unaffilliated soldiers-of-fortune, plus may surprise someone.
I was also thinking of constant mods and/or necessary repairs, a la Firefly - we don't after all have a steady supply of Fed Starbases or suchlike to refit constantly.

Good point. As mercs, we're unlikely to have a particularly large crew. Hell, we'd probably be lucky to get around fifty or so crewmembers.

Can we get a D-cannon?
Sorry, wrong universe.

Nah, Mikey. We need an Armaggedon Gun. Think
bigger.

So maybe 4 internal cargo bays, a mixed array of weapons with some of different designs. Maybe only 4 torpedo tubes, and a mix of disrupters(romulan and Klingon) and phasers. High Density armor instead of the Ablative armor. The Tholian webspinner would make sense since a Tholian is providing the vessel. It would also make it easier to capture an enemy in one-on-one engagements. Meaning that our more common enemys will attack en masse(governments and large pirate and other trouble making groups).
As for character creating, I'm not strict.

Does that mean that we can be hired by a legitimate government and then used as a "deniable assett?"
Cool - I needed to practice sleeping with one eye open.

I recommend a Dr. Device.

That's possible. We could also be considered an 'expendable asset'. Why risk a ship of the line when a crew of misfits can get the job done, and reduce political fallout, escpecially in high-risk missions. But we will prove that the crew of the...hot rod ship can't be beaten so easily. Okay, we need possible hull designs and names. Is the above adjustments to the ship acceptable to everyone?

I think we can include any culture's tech, as long as we can justify its presence in the story. And less torps in favor of energy weapons makes sense for a ship with unreliable or dubious access to restocking a/o replication.
As an auxiliary craft, I was also thinking we might bring over the Xindi shuttle we had used. I mentioned particle cannons, because we have evidence of the Xindi craft using them in ENT - of course, I imagine that they would be 220 years more advanced...

hmm...like what Voyager started off wanting to do. (Somehow firing 98 torpedoes out of 40, I belive it was) The Tholian tech makes sense because it's a Tholian who's building her. The other weapons were probably bought or salvaged from the wreckage of the Dominion war.
But why the Xindi shuttle? It was captured by a Starfleet officer, and I doubt Rochey will just let me take it.
I almost wish I could bring the Mystic over from the Chakat universe, she would be perfect for this. Then again that's what I designed her for, mercenary battles and all that. Oh well, no point in wishing for what you can't have.

I was kind of hoping he would let me take it, if he doesn't feel he needs it, as a favor to an old soldier being forced to retire...
If not... oh well.

you take it? So you decided to come on as M'karn W'trisk then? There is the possibility of legally claiming the vessel as your own. Since you captured it, you can name a fair price and if Starfleet doesn't pay you gain full ownership of the vessel.

This is a very quick sketch of a model. The blocky area underneath is four cargo bays, each about the size of a basketball court. The main hull is 141m, with nacelles it comes out to 191. It looks rather more Federation than Tholian, though. Never really liked what little we see of tholian design anyway.

The DS9 Novel 'Proud Helios', has a klingon bird of prey(stupid 'rascals' tng) augmented with assorted technologies, manned by various n'er do wells like rogue trill, as a pirate vessel(allbeit praying on cardies), that might be fun for all, sorry am just guessing what the thread is about, as time restraints at the moment are amassing.
ps minnsky, those ships are awesome, i can see some of the design influences,or at least think i can, hedeiki, sheliak, peregrine, d'kora et al, although shapes are open to interpretation, so reminds me of years of studying rorschach lol, overall brilliant though
