George Lucas is probably pissed that his prequels will never achieve this much fame as STXI will. ![Mr. Green ](./images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif)

There is not a problem in this world that can't be solved without the proper application of a sufficient number of thermonuclear ordnance.

He's also pissed that Trek's doing a better prequel than he did. ![Poke :poke:](./images/smilies/poke.gif)

Re: ST:XI Spoiler Thread (READ AT OWN RISK)
There is an article in the newspaper today about Riverside, Iowa, hoping to attract tourism as the birthplace of Kirk. Now I have heard of this town before but... has anyone told them that in ST:XI Kirk is born in a shuttle? They're gonna be so pissed. Also, from what we see, it doesn't look like this Kirk had a very happy childhood in Iowa.
Does anyone know if Kirk's birthplace is canonical? I ask because in ST:XI, his birth occurs not long after Nero arrives, altering the timeline. Presumably his father and pregnant mother would have been aboard the USS Kelvin in the original timeline too. Nero's attack could have made his mother go into labour prematurely, I suppose. In the original timeline they could've just strolled back to Earth and arrived in Iowa in plenty of time.
These are the sorts of things which play on my mind on public transport in the mornings.

I know you've probably not seen the film enough times to be able to remember every detail but would you say, on any level you could draw any sort of relationship from ENT at all? Maybe not directly, like a character saying "Yes, in 2152 when Captain Archer was commanding the NX01 etc etc" but an open statement that if you wanted to, you could read ENT canon in it? Having said that though, I get the impression that it's all based on a variation of original TOS canon and nothing else...

Well I don't know about that but I have canon evidence that his full birth name is James R Kirk...CaptainQuantum wrote:...Does anyone know if Kirk's birthplace is canonical?...

I know they mention an Admiral Archer, but that's the extent, so far as I know.thelordharry wrote:I know you've probably not seen the film enough times to be able to remember every detail but would you say, on any level you could draw any sort of relationship from ENT at all? Hopefully Admiral Archer was put in charge of important work, like ensuring each starship receives its correct allotment of potatoes and toilet paper.

Knowing Starfleet, they probably made him the Academy combat instructor...

Hell, even that's too good for him. Need I remind you of how he couldn't even organise getting the fucking ship's supplies onboard in the first ep? A man of many talents he is not.Hopefully Admiral Archer was put in charge of important work, like ensuring each starship receives its correct allotment of potatoes and toilet paper.

They have one starship, ONE. How can you mess up the supply requests when only one person is requesting supplies?
Ya know though, if Archer was in charge of training security personnel that could explain some things.

Re: ST:XI Spoiler Thread (READ AT OWN RISK)
Ya know, if all you ever watched of Enterprise was the first half of the first season you'd be absolutely convinced that the Vulcans were right, humans had no business in space.
By the end of the fourth season you knew they were right.
