I talked to her at noon for a minute or two. She said she managed to walk around the ward twice. Of course, right after we talked for a moment, I heard the morphine drip go on twice, and she went all groggy. I told her to take a nap.

I myself caught 30 minutes in the back of my truck in the hospital parking lot, so I should be good to go for at least another... three hours ago.

I'm still in crisis mode, and I just can't seem to stop. I might lay down for a while in a bit, though; my knees are hurting pretty bad from all the walking and riding in the truck.

If she weren't so damn tough, I'd be hysterical worrying about her.

Well, you're not going to help her by making yourself sick. Believe me, I know you don't want to leave for a second; but you have to get at least a little sleep, and don't forget to eat once in a while either.

Well, my prayers have been added to the mix. I'll offer up another tonight. If she's walking and talking, that's the best sign of all. But seriously brother, like Mikey said, you're not going to do anybody a damn bit of good if you worry yourself into the bed next to her. If you INSIST on staying with her, alot of hospitals have fold out cots or something similar. Stress and exaustion can be as bad as that crash, and very likely can be contributing to your sense of panic. A sandwich once or twice a day can make a world of difference for your state of mind as well.

Seconded. Tsuki, sit back and take some deep breaths. My prayers to her as well. And well-wishes. Please eat and rest, for her and for yourself.

She's lucky to have a guy like you, though.

Jesus, talk about bad news. It's good to hear that she seems to be relatively alright, at least.
I don't think you need to worry too much about infection. They'll always use sterile equipment, and will undoubtedly be on the look out for just such an occurance.

I'm going to second Mikey's advice. Collapsing from exhaustion isn't going to help anyone. Do your best to try and get some rest and something to eat.

I talked to her earlier again; she walked around the ward again a few times. She isn't breathing any better, though. They are planning to release her on Monday (probably because she has no insurance), but they probably aren't going to give her any prescriptions (also the insurance thing), and it's going to take a few months at least for her to recover.

For the first few days out of the hospital, she's going to stay with the widow of her friend who died last week; when she's ready, I'll go get her in Plantersville. It is 40 miles closer, so I guess that's a plus.

They don't have government insurance out there? In Hawaii if you don't have insurance from work you can get on Medquest ins.

Nah. This is Texas, the "do it yourself unless we want you to do something for us" state.

They should at least have to give her a scrip for antibiotics (so much for that oath, right), but I'm not holding my breath. After all, if I pass out and split my skull, I'm screwed for lack of insurance.
