Uzume was in a major car crash with her boyfriend last night. He's fine, but she had to have emergency surgery and a tube put in her lung. She's in a hospital about 150 miles from here; I just got back home. She'll be in there for at least 3 to 4 days if we're lucky, a week or more if we're not.

Needless to say, I'm a bit tired and extremely upset. I've been trying hard not to freak out. I might pop back on here and there over the next few days, but unfortunately, I'm going to have to put any games I'm in or running on hold.

Those of you that pray, I'd appreciate it if you would.

I'm not much of a prayer, but my best thoughts go her way, for her health and for a fast and easy recovery.

And Tsu, breath deep, think positive, and if possible, relax. We're here for you if you need us.

Collapsed lung? If so, the good news is that modern procedures tend to be able to reinflate them with little lasting damage. When she can hear our messages, please convey our best to her.

Of course. If you need to talk or vent, feel free to PM, e-mail, or FB me.

Will do.

Apparently, they got it re-inflated, which is good, because the tube came out when they were trying to move her last night.

They took an x-ray, which apparently showed that the tube was unnecessary; it wasn't draining anything anyways. Now the big concern is infection.

I appreciate it, man. I'm a wreck right now, honestly. I think the rest of my run will be a short one if anything happens to her.

Thank you.

EEK! My thoughts are with you likewise.

If it helps at all, I know a young man who had a lung collapsed when he was stabbed through it from the back - he left the hospital 3 days later with nothing more major than a big band-aid.

It does, actually. This was caused by blunt force trauma, but the principle is the same. With the tube out, and the hole covered, the risk of infection goes down, but that's still my main fear right now.

That's why I don't like hospitals - they're full of sick people. ;)

Seriously, that's the best place - if anything develops, she's in a position to get a highly targeted antibiotic or antiviral intravenously.

Ouch, Send her my best, and she will be in our prayers, mine at least. Hopefully all will go well.

This is true.

Unfortunately, like myself, she's allergic to Penicillin and it's derivatives. :?

Thanks Nick. I can use all the help she can get.

I didn't think anybody still used actual penicillin.

No, most don't but most antibiotics have penicillin derivatives in them... I know because I too am allergic to penicillin, and can't take a ton of meds for the congestion and my asthma (when it was bad) because of the penicillin in it.
