Does it involve a street corner?
I just found out one of my friends from High School killed himself yesterday. We were closer friends in elementary/middle school when we were both in Scouts but I was always on friendly terms with him. I guess it really is the quiet ones....
Damn. My sympathies.
It feels so weird to say "my friend from high school" when it's only been three months. Part of me wonders what the hell happened during those months.

Fuck....my condolences.
I've become desensitized to suicide or suicidal feelings, the clique I most conform to stereotypically uses self harm as a method of expressing emotional pressure. The chavs use beating people up, we use beating ourselves up. A stupidly high proportion of my friends have self harmed, and 2 have come so close to suicide its stupid. I'm used to it now.

That's terrible. (That it's come to that I mean)

You know, one of my most shameful moments is when I found out that a guy I went to high school with shot himself. Don't mistake, we were NOT friends. I was never a fighter, he was. He used to sucker punch me or cheap shot me from behind more than once. Usually while I was talking to the girls (which WAS my thing in high school

). Everytime I stood up to him, I caught a beat down. I just couldn't take him.
I was actually glad when I heard he pulled that trigger. I still feel guilty about that.

You know how I feel about that EMO crap. You shouldn't punish your self so early. Life will do that after you begin actually living it on
your terms. Not school politics, or living under your parents roof. Reliant, you know I'm not

-ing on
you. It's just that I myself look back at my youth and realize that if I knew then what know now, I would have been a child a little longer, and not taken so much unnecessary responsibility on my shoulders.

I felt the same way about my ex-stepfather. I felt guilty that I didn't feel more than vague relief.
Sonic, my condolences.

Thanks. I had a similar moment w/ the senior class two years ahead of me (i was a sophomore IIRC) when we found out that one of their class members had killed themselves (later we found out it was accidental involving a High and a window curtain cord... idk). I didn't know her and felt vaguely guilty that I
didn't feel that bad. I mean I was sorry she died (especially) that way, but I didn't feel much more.

I found a service on Twitter that notifies you when the ISS is over your location at night and you can (weather permitting) see it passing overhead. How cool is that?
Hi, Ben Miller!
ISS will be visible passing at your location -weather permitting- on
September 11, 2009, 19:49:00 BST
Is it a good one?
This time, the International Space Station will be flying over at 25 degrees. Its magnitude will be -2.1: extremely bright!
Where to look?
ISS will come up at the horizon from south-southwest.
Your location
Your Twitter bio says you are here: "51.614353,0.644331", which Twisst thinks is at these coordinates: 51.614353, 0.644331. More info: Twisst and locations.
Coming up
The next pass of ISS after this one: September 11, 2009, 21:23:32 BST

I thoroughly enjoy a good Twitter when the wife's gone to bed.
How the hell do I work out where south-southwest is without a compass? What's that trick with a bucket of water, a cork and a needle?!?!?

I know I'm gonna get mocked...
What's 'twitter'? I know it's a website, not that out of it.

It's sort of a social networking site revolving around SMS style micro-blogging updates. And Brent Spiner, William Shatner, LeVar Burton and Wil Wheaton are on there too!

I feel slightly smarter now.

Magnetize the needle, place it on the cork in a bucket of water and it will indicate which way is north.
