Hell, target the bridge. If the Scimitar's photons could blow open a Sovereign's bridge, I imagine a bunch of quantums would peel a Galaxy bridge open like a can opener.

But that wouldn't win the battle!

Victory requires breaking the enemies ability and will to fight. Cutting their power and main weapons with do both.

Fed ships are ridiculously over-centralised. Knocking the bridge out might cripple the ship completely.

Would you risk your victory on that?

It depends on a lot of factors. Eg, what ship I'm facing, what my objectives are, etc. If it was just a simple 'kill the other guy' type of battle, I'd just go straight for the nacelles.

Well, you'd almost certainly kill most of the senior officers, and you'd buy enough time while they tried to man the battle bridge (wish we'd seen more of that) to target their sensors, or the warp core with an unopposed attack.

Isn't the main computer stored just next to the bridge? Knocking that out would probably disable the entire ship.

The ship has a back up computer in one of the lower decks. The shut down wouldn't last long. You could target the bridge with forward weapons then as you pass by use your aft weapons to hit the underhull.

Again that is a rough turn as I would juke the ship and adjust pitch to bring my PTLs to bare if I was the GCS.

Sending one full volley of QT's at the bridge is an excellent idea as you approach - your firing angle is right, and you can cause a whole hell of a lot of chaos as you position yourself for your follow-up attacks.

Exactly. :D

So then my thoughts on the forward weapons hitting the bridge and then in passing use the aft weapons to hit the warp core was a good idea then?

Damn straight. Ideally, you'd want to utilize all weapons as effectively as possible. Cruise in from the front at a higher elevation, pound the bridge with QT's, then fire all rear weapons at the warp core as you arc over the top. Then, angle upwards away from their rear torpedo launcher arc, and attempt a rolling loop back down to target either the bridge or warp core again with another foreward volley. Quantums should make smouldering ruins of their systems in short order.

Yep. You could completely shred an unshielded ship like that.

I would also like to soften her up with long range QTs for a while. But I would loop to her side not top because then that type X will rip at you.
