What happened when we found out there was no WMDs in Iraq?
A lot of people got mad, made some of the officials responsible sweat, everyone swore they relied on what they thought was credible intelligence, and by then we were knee deep in Iraq so the whole issue was moot anyway.
I can imagine some UFP internal inquiries being made, maybe a few scapegoats getting fired but not much else happening. Even if the Romulans find out they were duped they probably wuldn't want to admit it publicly.

They MAY just respect the UFP a bit more. Because they pulled a beautiful scheme that would have been worthy of a Romulan.

Yea.. but I agree with Mark that someone, somewhere in a position of authority may remember that the Federation can play dirty too next time they start plotting things. Like assassinating Klingon governors or feeding a defector false information or....
