Inquiring minds what to know
In a book about some of the ST life-forms (I think it's Mr. Data's Guide to .....) it mentions that a Starfleet vessel approached Sigma Iota II. They were hailed by someone using standard SF frequencies and found that the planet now looked like a Federation Starbase, uniforms and stuff. If you remember McCoy left his communicator and they simply copied everything.

Anyone remember the book? I'm too lazy to dig out of my attic! :jester:

How the hell do you end up just like Starfleet simply because someone left a communicator there? Unless said communicator has detailed info on uniforms, government structure, weapon designs, etc, etc, etc, they should still be radicaly different.

And how would they progress from 1920's technology to 23rd century tech without the industrial and technological base to do so. You could bring a cell phone back to the Civil War era but no one would be able to do anything with it or base anything off it.

Exactly. It makes no sense.

No kidding, but that is what was in the book.
