I assume that the writer/editor are doing it purposely.

Good thing that was a stadium employee. A NYM could never have hit that far.

I guess Straw, Dave Kingman, Rusty Staub, Kevin McReynolds, Bobby Bo, Todd Hundley, etc., etc. were never Mets?

She didn't say in history, just the current crop at Citifield. Never thought someone would bring up Bobby Bonilla in a positive light. The Mets are still paying fatboy. I think that ends in 2016.

Genuine. I've heard that there were a few of them posted round Dallas just before his visit in November '63. Given the way his approval rating seems to have been dropping at the time he needed the extra nonsense like a hole in the head.

That wouldn't be accurate either. The roster as a whole isn't the most prolific hitting team (particularly for power) but Lucas Duda can hit a ball quite a long way when he gets a hold of one.

I remember in Citifield's first season, there was talk about how the new ballpark may be a pitcher's stadium. The newspaper was using David Wright's falling numbers as an example. I don't know if such things as a pitcher's stadium exist as the article wasn't scientific, just opinionated.

Oh, it's clear certain ballparks affect scoring in certain ways. It can be measured in "park factors" in which numbers in a category are compared in a teams' home park to the same numbers in that teams road games. When you really dig into these, you see some parks affecting home runs, other hit types right down to singles, even strikeouts and walks. The overall factor is just measured from runs scored. Citi field has replaced Shea Stadium, which also was a pitcher friendly park (though the specifics vary). It's in the same vein as the effects of seasonal winds and climate in American football or other outdoor sports (aside from the handful of indoor stadiums) on games only modified further by the fact no two baseball stadiums have exactly the same outfield configuration.

The current regime has taken that park and brought the outfield walls in (and down) a bit once already, though the park remained pitcher friendly. Another round of the incredible shrinking park is underway this off-season. It's certainly at odds with their current state of team-building, featuring a core of young pitchers most MLB teams would envy. I see nothing wrong with the ballpark myself, and I'd advise the team to get better hitters if they want more offense (which would have the added bonus of not helping the opponents hit also) though they haven't asked my input.

at least, if you understand the sport enough to know what it's talking about I suppose.
