I wouldn't want to drive behind the person that though that the HTC Droid Eris had 'some waviness' in the light test.

I won't deny that the iPhone is well built PHYSICALLY.

I do not like the enclosed battery spaces, or lack of expandable memory. Additionally, my parent's 3G's suffered severe signal problems all over Hampshire and Essex. It is very possible that it's O2's signal in those areas but still. Aesthetically, its always subjective. I Dislike the iPhone's glossyness, but I like the colour patterns. Screen is good, but not the best because of the glass overlay. That's about how i use touchscreens, i don't tap with the pad of my finger as it's uncomfortable for me. I use the tip of my finger. This is normally an issue for Capacitive screens, because nails don't work on them. However, some seem to work. the iPhones does not.

Now, physically i'm gonna compare it to what, IMO, is the greatest competition for the iPhone in google terms, the HTC Desire (mine). Physically, its a little liter. Has a bigger screen as well. Not quite as solid feel as the iPhone, probably because of the removable battery cover but that also means an expandable memory card slot. Buttons are good, although the trackpad is a bit of a false economy. Screen is amazingly bright, by far brighter than a iPhone because of the AMOLED tech behind it. However, it isn't quite as responsive FOR AN AVERAGE User. Camera is miles better.

Advantages/Disadvantages for both sides.

Another thing I can't stand about AMOLED screens is in sunlight they barely are visible, however, in UK that probably isn't much of a problem... :P

Really? I never have a problem with the sunlight on my iPod touch. I have however on my dad's Samsung with OLED screen.

Are you sure you just didn't have the screen brightness turned down. iPhones are very bright on full strength.

It may have been a bad screen... I have seen a few that you can't see no matter what... So I guess it could happen.

I'd have taken it back as faulty. Mine is so bright that I have to have it on half power.

I usually keep mine at 1/4 brightness, gives it a decent battery even when it's on wifi all the time.

Nice pic, Dark, but that's hardly an analytical test. There are much more comparable HTC Android phones available than the Eris.

Also take a look at the finger size and touch pressure.

The video of the test is on their website: you can see, if it was an human i the first link, it's a robot in the second.

I guess, a robot can do the same move for all this phones.

For the choice of phone, I think they have take the phones who are the best selled or presented as the "iPhone Killer".

However the Droid Eris was never meant to be an iPhone killer. It's like comparing. Nokia 5800 to it..
